Welsh Joint Education Committee, Wales
The Welsh Joint Education Committee (WJEC) was established in
1948, originally as a consortium of local education authorities.
It is now established as the main provider of educational services
in Wales, owned and controlled by the 22 unitary councils. The
services provided include examinations (subject to the QCA / ACCAC
code of practice), teacher / tutor training and producing Welsh
language learning / teaching materials. The WJEC are at present
responsible for providing examinations specifically for adults
who are learning Welsh as a second language.

Ionad na dTeangacha, Ireland
Ionad na dTeangacha is the Language Centre, National University of Ireland, Maynooth which provides language instruction for university students and members of the public. In May 2005 the Language Centre began offering Irish language examinations for adults.
