Prøve i Dansk 1
This is an examination based on the Council of Europe's Waystage (A2) specification for the written part and Threshold (B2) specification for the oral part.
There are three components:
Reading/Writing
Candidates are expected to be able to read carefully in order to understand main ideas and details and to read quickly to extract factual information from short, simple texts taken from sources such as signs, forms, instructions and newspapers.
There are two compulsory sections, with a total of minimum 28 items of the following task types: multiple matching, multiple-choice, short answers and gap filling.
The length of the texts is maximum 5 pages. The time allowed is 90 minutes.
Texts used for writing include forms and simple messages. Candidates are expected to be able to transfer factual information, describe, ask questions and give information, taking into account the specified audience and purpose.
There are three compulsory tasks, including a form to fill in and a semi-formal and an informal message.
There is no requirement as to the length of the response of the three tasks. The time allowed is 60 minutes.
Oral communication
Candidates are tested in pairs by two Examiners (an Interlocutor and an Assessor) and are required to answer questions about themselves, carry on a short monologue and participate in a conversation on a selected topic, both with each other and with the Examiner.
Candidates are expected to be able to understand simple communication. Candidates are further expected to be able to give information, describe, express opinion and give reasons.
Weighting of components
One score is given collectively for the reading and writing components, and one score is given for oral communication. When calculating the average grade, oral communication counts double.
Results
The scores given, range from 0-13.
The two scores are reported as a profile of the skills of reading/writing and oral communication.
Certificates are awarded to all candidates.
