Prøve i Dansk 3
This is an examination based on the Council of Europe's Vantage (B2) specification for both the written part and the oral part.
There are three components:
Reading
Candidates are expected to be able to read quickly in order to find factual information which is relevant in a given context - and from sources such as brochures etc. Candidates are further expected to be able read carefully and understand details and opinions and to draw conclusions based on the text.
There are two compulsory sections, with a total of about 30 items of the following task types: multiple-matching, multiple-choice, short answers, true/false, open answers.
The length of the texts is maximum 18 pages. The time allowed is 2 hours.
Writing
Candidates are expected to be able to give information, answer questions, describe situations and events and influence (suggest, comment). They are further expected to express opinion, give reasons, explain, and summarize.
There are two compulsory tasks, including an informal letter and a composition.
There is no requirement as to the length of the response of the first task. The response of the second task should be about 200-300 words in length. The time allowed is 2 ½ hours.
Oral communication
Candidates are tested in pairs by two Examiners (an Interlocutor and an Assessor) and are required to answer questions about themselves, carry on a monologue and participate in a conversation on a selected topic, both with each other and with the Examiner.
Candidates are expected to be able to understand communication that is nuanced and complex. Candidates are further expected to be able to give information, describe, express opinion, give reasons and influence.
Weighting of components
Each component is given a score. When calculating the average grade, the oral communication component counts double.
Results
The scores given, range from 0-13.
The three scores are reported as a profile of the skills of reading, writing and oral communication.
Certificates are awarded to all candidates.
