At the service of the 386,000 companies of Paris and the surrounding three départements, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIP) is a public institution managed by 80 elected company CEOs. It intervenes in numerous fields relating to economic and company life.
Since 1958, the CCIP has pioneered and participated intensively in the promotion of French as a tool for trade abroad. The DRI/E's Centre of French Language (CELAF) concentrates its activities on communication skills in the professional sphere, thus serving not only the needs of foreigners who use French in their activities but also those of French companies established abroad which require French speaking personnel.
CELAF offers an integrated assessment and training system unique in the world. General French language skills are assessed via the Test d'Évaluation de Français (TEF). Business and professional French skills are developed and tested through a selective range of customized training programs and a set of eleven diplomas, the Diplômes de français professionnel (DFP).
The International Relations - Education Division (DRI/E) is officially certified according to standard ISO 9001 : 2008 for the Design and Management of CELAF products (CELAF: Centre of French Language):
