Centre international d'études pédagogiques (CIEP)

CIEP, The Centre international d'études pédagogiques,
is a public institute of the French Ministry of Education. Since
its creation in 1945 the CIEP has made a significant contribution
to the development of international co-operation in education
and teaching and examination of the French Language with a team
of 170 trainers, project managers and administrative staff and
independent French and foreign experts.
The CIEP's three main activities:
- French Language: training courses for teachers and teacher trainers in French
as a foreign language; development of educator's websites and
portals (www.franc-parler.org);
DELF and DALF, two official diplomas for foreigners in French
as a foreign language; TCF, a standardised test, open to all
candidates, designed to evaluate their current skills in French.
- Educational cooperation: expertise, conception of training courses for foreign educational
administrators, development of projects for French and foreign
institutions, calls for tender and participation in educational
programmes financed by multilateral organisations.
- Internationalising the French system: support of foreign language teaching and of international and bilingual classes in France; organisation of exchange and language assistants programmes.
