The Centre for Advanced Language Learning of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) is a non-profit institution. The main focus of the
more than thirty-year-old institution is the administration of
examinations, but it is involved in language teaching, as well.
There are more than 130,000 candidates each year and examinations
are administered in 27 languages, Hungarian as a foreign language
among them. The Budapest-based institution has a nationwide network
with locations for administering examinations in the largest universities
of the country and in other educational institutions as well.
A central staff of about 50 control and coordinate the work of
more than 1100 examiners. One of the important tasks of the institution
is the standardised assessment of knowledge of the Hungarian language
and culture within the framework of a modern system of examinations.
The Test Hungarian as a Foreign Language has been worked out
for the following levels:
- Belépõ szint - A2 (Basic Level)
- Alapfok - B1 (Pre-intermediate Level)
- Középfok - B2 (Intermediate
Level)
- Felsõfok - C2 (Advanced Level)
