Examination System

Setting and Pretesting

The examinations are constructed at Norsk språktest, the University of Bergen. Items, parts of and whole examinations are trialled, and if necessary amended or substituted.

Marking

The tests are being marked by a team of raters, who teach Norwegian as a Second Language at different levels.

Each written answer is marked by two raters according to predefined criteria.

Oral examinations are assessed on site.

Training

Training courses for the raters of both the written and oral components of the tests are organised regularly. It is compulsory for raters to attend the courses.

Results

Students who take Norskprøve 2, must have reached Level A2 to pass the test, and students who take Norskprøve 3, must have reached Level B1 to pass.
Students who complete the Advanced Level (Test i norsk - høyere nivå), get a diploma with points on a scale from 150 to 700. To enter university, students generally need 450 points.

Security

Every stage of the examination procedure, from construction to completion and marking, is carefully monitored to ensure maximum security.
