The CEFR Grids and Illustrative Samples
The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Writing Tasks and The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Speaking Tasks have been produced by ALTE members in cooperation with the Council of Europe. The grids are designed to facilitate the comparison of tests and tasks in various European languages. Samples, which illustrate the use of the grids, as well as the specification and standardisation sections of The Manual for Relating Language Examinations to the CEFR, have been provided by a number of ALTE members.
The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Writing Tasks
The Council of Europe will shortly publish writing tasks and sample responses which have been provided by ALTE members and analysed using The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Writing Tasks. Further samples may be published at a later date. The purpose of these publications is to provide illustrative samples of writing for those using The Manual for Relating Language Examinations to the CEFR. If you wish to analyse your own tests using the CEFR grid, a version of the grid is currently available for download from the Council of Europe web site.
The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Speaking Tasks
In addition to the writing grid, The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Speaking Tasks can be downloaded from the Council of Europe web site. As with the writing grid, The CEFR Grid for the Analysis of Speaking Tasks is intended for the analysis of test tasks and may be used in conjunction with The Manual for Relating Language Examinations to the CEFR, or independently.
For further information about the illustrative samples and the CEFR Grids, please go to the Council of Europe web site, Language Policy Division.
